Useful (and free) Stata training sources?

Dear All,
I am working with Stata a lot recently, but I am still very very slow at telling the program what to do. This can be a bit frustrating if one wants to evaluate research ideas "quick and dirty". I was wondering whether you guys could recommend something like a short course on Stata. Most videos in youtube cover very specific topics... I am mostly looking for materials that teach you how to quickly access descriptive statistics of your data.

1. I want to plot returns for all companies above certain assets level, in some specific country,
2. I want to know country averages of total assets across time for the insurance sector given a data set of banks and insruances companies
3. I want to know how many companies are in my sample given I have panel data
4. ...

These kind of "descriptive" things. I just want to get faster at it and not bother Statalist with every little issue.

I doubt that there is a one-stop course or source unless you write it yourself.

It may be too basic for your purposes but the Southern Africa Labour and Development Research Unit (SALDRU) at the University of Cape Town developed a free online course with the University of Michigan which I found useful when starting out. It seems you can no longer self-register (not sure why), but you could get in touch with the administrator at the email address provided at the link if you want to give it a try: https://www.saldru.uct.ac.za/trainin...e-stata-course

As far as I remember the course was an introduction to using household survey data, and is really designed assuming people have never used Stata before. I think it was basic descriptive stats, basic graphs, and perhaps some simple regressions.

This may sound quite obvious but I guess 100% of the trained users will consider "not to be missed" among the free resoures... the Stata manuals!
