That may be true, but it is also hardly ever the case, really.

Jorrit Gosens it is the case where I am currently employed, and given the question was about an enterprise environment I thought it might be useful to point it out. It may not occur every where, and I don't necessarily think that it is an ideal practice in all applications, but it can definitely pose problems in thin client based environments.

wbuchanan There is an option in Windows whereby they push the download and hold of on installation until I OK it. But my institution does not allow that. I tried it some time back. Within a day I got a message warning me that I wold be disconnected if I didn't restore automatic installation, and when I called their bluff, they threw me off the next day.

Using Windows 10, I am pretty sure by now that Stata suspends executing code if the computer (not the screen of course) goes into sleep mode. This may of course be dependent not just on the OS, but also on some settings - which may be modifiable although I don't see anything in that sense in the control panel.

However, I noted the existence of various software used to prevent sleep mode without disabling it. This one appears to feature a couple of options that could be used to link its action to whenever Stata is running.
