Encountered a sharing violation while accessing

Dear all,

I am teaching a course in statistics and Stata, and some students are having a problem with Stata 11.

When they run the syntax some of them get a window with the following message (see attached photo):

"Encountered a sharing violation while accessing"

Does anyone know how they can fix?

You give no precise details whatsoever on what the students are doing.

One guess is that they are trying to edit a do-file or do-file editor window contents before it's finished running. .

The more general guess is something of the same kind, trying to work with a file in two different ways.
