  • Filling polygons in spmap with patterns instead of colors

    Dear All,

I would like to know how to fill a polygon in Stata using the command spmap with stripes instead of full color. I use a mac.

    Thanks!

spmap is from SJ/SSC, as you are asked to explain.

Stripes, stipples, polka dots, and so forth are not on offer from official Stata.

Sergiy Radyakin has done some work in this area, but I can't tell you about the current availability of his programs or their adaptability to this problem. He gave a very interesting talk at the 2009 Stata Conference, but the links at
    https://ideas.repec.org/p/boc/dcon09/10.html appear dead.

        Code:
        findit parea
will bring an example for pattern-filled area charts.

Example continues working in modern Stata's (here is output from Stata 13). Whether this will work in anything other than MS Windows is to be confirmed. Note that the package itself is marked OS-specific, so on non-Windows you will need to download it manually.
