How to create SVG graphics? (for HTML5-friendly, modern browsers)

Hi,
Can anyone recommend a workflow for creating high-quality SVG (scalable vector graphics) from gph files or (more likely) from another export? This format would be the new standard for the web, but my experiments with converting WMFs or PDFs have been patchy so far.

Maybe try outputting as EPS and then converting that. There seem to be several tools to do that (either as commands or websites like https://cloudconvert.org/eps-to-svg ). Not sure how well it works though
