D. operator/ d. command generates only missing values

Dear community,

I am quite new to STATA and want to do some panel regressions. I am supposed to create some legged variables, d.variable and l.variable, however when applying the d. command only missing values are generated. Some values of the variable are obviously missing, but even for those variables existing no legged variables are created. I dont know what the problem is(maybe a question of the format?). In order for someone to know what happened you will need to show us a sample of the data you started with, the exact commands you used, and what Stata gave you in return. With some idea of what you have and what you did, someone may be able to help you.
