Variable question

I am still learning the basics in STATA! I have a quick question thought - I have a variable called GROUP that contains 5 different groups within it. How do I separate each group out to reflect 5 groups as opposed to one variable? I believe they are code as 1 - 5 but I would like to compare groups. Thanks!
