Dear Statalist members
I'm using a regression discontinuity design to estimate the impact of a program of promoting girls education on girls' professional aspirations. My problem is that the dependent variable that is "professional aspiration" is a categorical variable like 1- teacher 2- doctor 3- mechanist 4- farmer etc. Is it possible to use a categorical variable as a dependant to run the regression discontinuity in Stata? If so, I will really appreciate if someone could help with commands. The treatment is free education for girls in junior high school. Those that got primary school certificate before 2010 didn't get treated whereas those that got the primary school certificate after 2010 got treated. So the running variable is the year of getting the primary school certificate.
Thanks in advance for your help
