    Just a test \[ w_{hij} = \frac {N_h}{n_h} \] \[ w_{hij} \neq w_{hi’j} \]

nice, did you write that using \LaTeX? How did you specified it was math code?
In my preview, Latex doesn't seems to work : at least not this code: \[w_{ij}]

There is a backslash missing in front of your closing bracket. \[w_{ij}\]

I just followed other forum members' advice and tested here.

          Ok, nice, thanks.
But still doesn't work in preview mode.

Right , only works after you hit 'post reply'.

              Test again. Suppose that we have a random variable \[ Y_i \sim Poisson( \lambda_i ) \] and a random variable \[ X_i \sim Bernoulli[ f(Y_i) ] \], where the probability of \[ X=1 \] is some function of \[ Y \].

              -----
              \[ \sum_{y=0}^{\infty} f(Y_i)^{X_i} [1-f(Y_i)]^{1-X_i} \biggl( \frac{\lambda_i^{Y_i}}{Y_i!}e^{-\lambda_i} \biggl) \]
              -----

For future reference: it appears that Statalist does not accept in-text formulae.
